The second Pepper Ryan single “How You Dance” is now rising the charts on Spotify and streaming sites (almost) everywhere.
This song is inspired by daughters who dance and fathers who…not so much. Featuring vocals by bigtime country artist Houston Bernard. Listen now on Spotify at the link below!
Readers of Pepper’s mystery-thriller series know that sometimes Pepper takes a break from chasing baddies to perform as a singer and musician. Have you ever wondered what Pepper sounds like as a singer, or wanted to hear a song that he performed in one of his books?
I was curious myself.
So I spent some time at Zippah Recording Studio in Boston during the pandemic with one goal: to bring some Pepper Ryan music to life. I wrote the lyrics and the original melodies, then worked with some amazing talent in the New England music community to improve the songs to a level that Pepper would be proud of. It was an intimidating experience for me, but wicked fun.
1000 thanks to Brian Charles, Paul Bohne, Annie Hoffman, Chris Anzalone, Jim Haggerty, Cody Nilsen, Houston Bernard, DJ Charles, Davina Yannetty and Tyler Simco–all among the brightest lights of New England’s rich music scene!
The final result is an EP album called CHERRY SUN with four country/pop songs. The first single, “Whatever Happened to You” is now live on Spotify and most music sites. Featuring Houston Bernard — what a voice!
Here is a sample, and if you like it, you can use the Spotify link to hear the whole song. Or listen wherever you love music!
And if you are moved to “Heart” or “Thumbs Up” or “Like” the song, I appreciate your support!
You know that Pepper likes to take a breather from chasing baddies to occasionally perform as a singer and musician.
Did you know I recently spent time with Brian Charles and Annie Hoffman at Zippah Recording Studio in Boston, bringing to life four Pepper Ryan country music songs?
It was scary but hella fun. My lyrics, my original melodies, but then I got a ton of help from friends and legends of the Boston studio session scene to make the songs something I’m very proud of.
Tragically, the night after those songs were mastered, Zippah Recording Studio burned down in an eight-alarm fire.
If you’d like to listen to a special preview of the first Pepper Ryan single “Whatever Happened to You”, click below–it’s part of a compilation of artists trying to support Brian Charles and Zippah. That’s Houston Bernard on lead vocals (a rising star nationally in country music)…does his sound match what you imagined for Pepper?
Please enjoy! And if you decide to donate to help rebuild this legendary recording studio, thank you from me, Pepper Ryan and the Boston music community!
Kill Tide, the second Pepper Ryan mystery-thriller, is now available on Audible, Amazon and iTunes. A prequel to Killing Shore, this book tells the story of when police cadet Pepper Ryan earned the nickname Wonderboy and became a hero to almost everyone on Cape Cod, except himself.
Back by popular demand is narrator Lyle Blaker. I think he knocked this one out of the park.
I hope you enjoy it on a road trip, a commute, or wherever you choose to listen. And don’t hesitate to send me an email to let me know what you think at tim@timothyfagan.com!

Readers have been asking for the Pepper Ryan mystery-thrillers to be available on audio book. I agreed, with one condition—I needed to find the perfect voice to voice to bring Pepper Ryan to life.
Then I found Lyle Blaker. Lyle is a full-time voice talent and Audie-nominated audiobook narrator. He has performed on approximately 100 audiobook titles and has a warm, playful narrative style.
And he just completed narrating and producing the award-winning KILLING SHORE, first in the Pepper Ryan series. I think Lyle killed it.
But check it out and decide for yourself. It’s available at Audible, Amazon and iTunes. And send me an email to let me know whether you enjoyed this audio book.

I am humbled and grateful for Publishers Weekly’s BookLife review of Kill Tide, the second book in the Pepper Ryan Mystery-Thriller series. The review appeared in the August 31, 2020 edition of Publishers Weekly.
Highlights of the review include:
“The narrative is fast-paced and intensifies with the introduction of a myriad of suspects and red herrings, and readers will eagerly turn the pages as they try to identify the culprit. The riveting conclusion and hints of future installments will thoroughly satisfy returning series fans as well as new readers.”
“Fans of amateur sleuth stories and beach reads will be captivated by this magnetic mystery set amid the beauty of a Cape Cod summer.”

Do you love your local indie bookstore? I think they’re a treasure. This is just a heads up that BookEnds Bookstore, my local bookshop in Winchester, MA, is now selling my new mystery-thriller Kill Tide online via bookshop.org.
What is bookshop.org? It’s a special kind of online bookseller. The brick-and-mortar version of BookEnds Bookstore remains closed due to the darn pandemic, but any purchase at BookEnds’ page on bookshop.org supports BookEnds financially. And you get the book you’ve been wanting!
Here is the direct link to the paperback of Kill Tide on their site, but you can search for other books and support BookEnds with any of your purchases today.
